HGAS- Summer Social Sunflower Competition
Saturday 6th September 2025
Sunflower Challenge 2025....Tallula decided a few years back to challenge all plot holders to growing the largest sunflower flower and the tallest sunflower.
This year will be the same as previous years.
You will all get 5/6 seeds of the same variety to grow throughout summer and there will be prizes for the Tallest and Biggest Flower.
I am still waiting for the Sunflower seeds to arrive, as soon as they do I shall arrange getting them to all who wants to give it a go.
As mentioned at the AGM – Myself (Becci) and Tom (Smithy Landlord) shall be doing a separate Sunflower Competition for the village – this shall be advertised through the village but the results will not be part of HGAS Summer Social event
but you could enter both!
Christmas Social 2025
As these seem to be very popular we shall be doing the same this year - there shall be date confirmed at the next committee meeting in June.

June 2023 - A few words from our Chairman. A couple of months ago following a personal email from Beetham Nursery I applied on behalf of Holme Grown Allotment Society for a FREE Jubilee Tree to plant on the allotment. I can now inform you all that we have been selected to have a free sapling to plant in commemoration of The Queens Platinum Jubilee. I will be collecting the sapling on Thursday 2nd June. I propose to have a social gathering after the Jubilee weekend to plant the tree for members and families to celebrate this great occasion. Details to follow. |
